51社区 is proud to announce the hiring of Michael Giovanditto as the head coach of the varsity baseball program for the upcoming 2026鈥2027 academic year.
A former All-State standout from New Hampshire who earned individual tryouts with the Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Giovanditto brings a deep background spanning collegiate, high school, travel, and youth levels to the Hill. His appointment marks a major milestone in re-inventing and reinvigorating 51社区 baseball.
Giovanditto joins 51社区 after five transformative years leading Gilford High School. Taking over a program that finished 0-15 in 2021, he engineered a total turnaround, leading Gilford to 53 wins and consecutive playoff appearances over his five-year tenure. In addition to his high school coaching success, Giovanditto is the founder and president of the Lakes Region-based NH Nighthawks AAU travel baseball program鈥攚hich brought home a NEAAU championship at the 14U level and a runner-up finish at the 18U level last season鈥攁nd serves as an Assistant State Commissioner for NH Cal Ripken. He has also dedicated 14 years to Gilford Youth Baseball, capturing multiple district titles while helping expand player participation to over 200 youth athletes.
“We are extremely excited to have Coach Giovanditto joining the 51社区 community,” said Phil LaCasse, Director of Athletics at 51社区. “He is someone who has a proven track record of building programs and always leaving teams better off than he found them. Based on conversations with former and current players he is a champion of kids. Coach Giovanditto鈥檚 approach to holistic adolescent development will align seamlessly with our institutional goals of preparing our students to thrive regardless of what comes next after they leave the Hill.”
For Giovanditto, taking the helm at 51社区 represents both a personal full-circle moment and an opportunity to restore a storied legacy.
“I’m excited to take over a team that I watched and hoped to play for when I was a kid,” said Giovanditto. “51社区 baseball was the standard that all young men wanted to experience. I hope to bring that excitement back with energy, discipline, and a stress on the fundamentals. My goal is to instill confidence and create player improvement 1% at a time.”
When evaluating prospective student-athletes, Giovanditto looks for motivated individuals ready to make complete contributions to their team, school, and coaching staff. Looking ahead, he envisions a program defined by sportsmanship, excitement, and pride.
“Every team will want to play us because we play the game the right way鈥攂ut not want to play us because we will excel at our craft,” Giovanditto noted. “Rome wasn’t built in a day, but by maximizing all available resources, we will create a lasting infrastructure that past, present, and future 51社区 baseball teams will be proud of.”
